Chilean Needle Grass alert
Chilean Needle Grass is an invasive species which has recently been discovered in West Melton.
There is no better time to spot Chilean Needle Grass than right now. The seed is setting a couple of weeks early this year and the purple seed panicle is highly visible. ECAN are asking us to keep an eye out for Chilean Needle Grass on our properties, around stock/ sale yards or on roadsides. If we suspect we have found it, instructions are not try to pull it out. Instead, take a photo and send it to biosecurity@ecan.govt.nz with details of the location, or call 0800 324 636 for assistance.
