Community Park Landscaping

The second phase of West Melton’s new community park adjacent to the community will soon go to tender, with construction ideally set to commence in the next few months.

Selwyn District Council is building this new facility in West Melton, with the first phase having already opened for skaters in January this year. The second phase sees the park expand to include a basketball half-court, a children’s playground and BBQ area. The plan also includes substantial plantings and landscaping.

A recent addition to the park is self-contained public toilets and camper-van dump station. This portion of the project has been made possible through a special tourism funding grant.

Below is the general landscape plan for the second phase of the park. The new toilet facilities are not included these drawings, but council have indicated these would positioned at the East end of the car park.

We’re thrilled to have this new development nearing completion in our community, with the initiative having originally stemmed from a letter written to council by a West Melton teenager.
