Cricketing legend John Wright, World Champion Lawn Bowler Gary Lawson, Olympic Hockey Player Robin Wilson, countless trotting champions, New Zealand Sevens Player Sam Dickson and Swiss Yodeling Champion Julie Cockburn, AND NOW IT’S YOUR CHANCE!
Sunday 26th October is our Sports and Recreation Fun Day as part of West Melton’s 150th Celebration Weekend. It’s time to put together your world class team and battle it out on the fields of West Melton in Sport Canterbury’s TOP TEAM!
We are looking for teams of six members. This fun and challenging event is designed to pit teams against each other in Problem Solving and Team Building challenges. The only rules are teams must have at least two children 14 years or under and consist of six members. To the right is an the entry form, fill it in and register your team! There will be extra points given if your team chooses to come in fancy dress!! Places are limited, so don’t delay.
Come on West Melton Walkers, Runners, Book Club, Wine Club, Art Group, Rifle Club, Golf Club, Garden Club, Naturist Club, Rugby Club, Netball Club, Tennis Club, Bowls Club, Pub Club, Singers, Dancers, Cubs, Brownies, Friends, Enemies, Families, Students and Business’s!!! Get a group of six together and vie for the coveted position of West Melton’s TOP TEAM!
But Wait! There’s more! The resident clubs at the West Melton Reserve are all having open days and hosting fun events.
| West Melton Rugby Club | The club is organising a friendly demonstration game of touch rugby between the Bearded Men and an invitational junior team. The Bearded Men will demonstrate what it is like to win and the invitational junior team will demonstrate how to be good losers! |
| West Melton Scouts | The Scouts will have memorabilia on display in the club rooms, and will be demonstrating scouting skills and cooking damper on their camp fire. |
| West Melton Tennis Club | The West Melton Tennis Club is planning a mixed doubles tournament with players and spectators requested to wear “olden day” apparel. |
| West Melton Netball Club | The netballers are arranging a guys vs girls netball game. |
| West Melton Bowling Club | The greens will be open at the West Melton Bowls Club for activities and possibly a friendly beer. |
| West Melton Football Club | What can I say! Watch this space! There is a rumour the Soccer stars are working on a project of EPIC proportions. I have been told there are only two Man Made structures that can be seen with the naked eye from the moon! The Great Wall of China and THIS! |
After all this activity and exertion you are going to be hungry (or Hangry if the invitational junior touch team) but don’t panic! There will be Food and Drinks stalls running from 1PM.
Come on West Melton! Get involved in this, the last event of our celebratory 150th weekend! Get a team together and strive to join John, Gary, Robin, Sam and Julie Co in the elite status of sporting super stars!
