A grand parade!
One of the cornerstone events planned for this Labour Weekend’s 150th celebrations is the Grand Parade, showcasing both the history and current community of West Melton.
Lead by the New Zealand Army Band, the 1.4km parade will be held on Saturday 25th October, starting at 11am. The parade will begin at the south end of Iris Taylor Drive, travelling north turning right onto Kirrin Lane, then right onto Preston Ave, right onto Weedons Ross Road before finally turning right into West Melton School grounds. (Note: horses and some vehicles will be diverted to another finishing area for safety and ground maintenance reasons).
Entries might include floats, music, marching, horses, vintage machinery, and static displays. The West Melton School will be host to a designated picnic spot, static displays and all types of stalls and activities immediately after the event.
